71% of Americans Say Country Is on the Wrong Track as Trump Approval Sinks to Second-Term Low: Poll

A record share of Americans now say the country is headed the wrong way, just weeks before the midterm elections.
A new NBC News Decision Desk poll powered by SurveyMonkey finds 71% of US adults think the nation is on the “wrong track,” the highest share of President Donald Trump’s second term, reports NBC News.
For the first time in Trump’s second term, the share who say the country is on the “right track” has fallen into the 20s.
The economy tops the list of most important issues at 31%.
Forty-four percent of Americans say their finances are worse than a year ago, while just 18% say they are better off.
Trump’s approval rating has slipped to 34% among adults, a second-term low in the poll, while 66% disapprove.
A majority, 51%, say they “strongly disapprove” of his performance.
Among registered voters, Trump’s approval stands at 39%, and 55% say they want Democrats rather than Republicans to control Congress after the November 3rd election.
Sixty-seven percent call gas prices a “very serious” or “somewhat serious” problem.
Fifty-eight percent say Trump’s policies are hurting the country, and 52% say his administration is “more corrupt” than past administrations.
Both parties are viewed poorly, with 43% holding a favorable view of the Democratic Party and 37% saying the same of the Republican Party.
Says NBC News,
“Poll respondents expressed deep unhappiness over economic conditions and widespread distrust toward both major political parties, but Trump and Republicans bore the brunt.”
The same poll also found that 71% of Americans don’t expect to receive the $5,000 payments Trump has promised if Republicans keep Congress, as The Daily Hodl reported.
The poll surveyed 19,135 adults online from September 28th to October 12th and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.6 percentage points.
