Billion-Dollar Bank Handing Up To $4,500 To Customers After ‘Unauthorized Actor’ Breaches Network, Steals Sensitive Information

A US bank is preparing to hand thousands of dollars to customers after a network breach placed their sensitive data at risk.
American National Bank & Trust has settled a class action lawsuit accusing the lender of failing to implement or maintain adequate data security measures to protect customers’ private information.
According to the newly updated settlement portal, customers will receive up to $4,500 for documented out-of-pocket losses from the breach, such as unreimbursed fees or fraud resolution costs.
People without losses can claim a $50 cash payment, and all eligible class members also get one year of three-bureau credit monitoring with $1 million in identity theft insurance.
The breach happened in January of last year, when an unauthorized actor accessed the bank’s network, accessing names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, tax identification numbers, driver’s license and state identification card numbers, passport numbers, financial account information, payment card information and certain medical information.
Eligibility covers US residents who received the bank’s notification letter, and claims must be filed online or postmarked by April 21st, 2026.
Opt-outs or objections are due by March 23rd, and a final approval hearing is set for April 28th.
The bank denies wrongdoing and says it settled to avoid a lengthy and expensive litigation process.
