Extortion Group Threatens To Release Florida Driver’s License Details, Photographs, Signatures and Addresses

A notorious extortion group is adding the State of Florida DMV to its data leak site and threatening to release alleged stolen driver records unless officials make contact in a matter of days.

The group ShinyHunters has listed the State of Florida DMV on its platform and posted a screenshot that appears to show information from the state’s Driver and Vehicle Information Database, including license details, a photograph, signature and address, reports CyberInsider.

The deadline posted is September 11th.

The group has not shown how many records it claims to hold or how it got them, and the sample record is expired and tied to a historical figure.

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles had not publicly confirmed any breach or unauthorized access at the time of reporting.

The claim is an unverified extortion allegation at time of publishing. The source of the material and any direct break-in at the agency remain unknown.
