Insider Allegedly Falsifies Documents, Inflates Income To Get $1,700,000 in Mortgage Loans

A financial services worker allegedly doctored documents to obtain millions of dollars worth of mortgage loans.
According to new court filings, Aquana Raffington – a former loan officer of PrimeLending, a PlainsCapital Company – allegedly doctored documents to inflate their income as a means of receiving $1.7 million in mortgage loans.
The filings show that Raffington originated multiple loans from PrimeLending to a business owned by her and her close relative, a move forbidden by company policy. Furthermore, many of the supporting documents contained false information that inflated her income.
“The asset and income statements, as well as supporting documentation, submitted in connection with these borrowers’ loan applications were fraudulent, misrepresenting the borrowers’ employment and incomes in the borrowers’ favor.
Raffington knew that the underlying employment and income information was false, and failed to report or otherwise prevent this fraud.”
The documents reveal that Raffington is barred from “participating in any manner in the conduct of the affairs of any institution or agency…including, but not limited to, any insured depository institution or any holding company of an insured depository institution, or any subsidiary of such holding company, or any foreign bank or company.”
