Robinhood Q3: Revenue Hits $1.42B as Crypto Income Falls 55%

Robinhood’s Q3 2026 results are in, and the trading platform posted $1.42 billion in revenue, up 12% from a year ago.

However, things were not so rosy for its crypto business, which saw revenue fall 55% to about $120 million.

Crypto Weakness Meets Gains in Event Contracts and Options

According to Robinhood’s report, its transaction-based revenue went up 19% to $867 million, with event contracts, which trade between 1 cent and $1 and pay $1 at settlement, bringing in $173 million, marking a sixfold increase.

“Customers are trusting us with more of their assets as we deliver on our product roadmap, leading to our highest quarter ever for revenues,” Shiv Verma, the firm’s CFO stated.

The third quarter also saw net deposits go to $15.7 billion as total platform assets climbed to $396 billion, a 19% jump. This, per the report, was because of higher equity valuations.

Options revenue also rocketed, climbing 31% to $399 million, while equities gained 41% to add $121 million. However, crypto was the odd one out, with the $120 million recorded in the period marking a 55% decline according to the firm. Volume on Robinhood’s main app dropped 48% year-over-year to $21 billion, while Bitstamp volume fell 28% to $29 billion.

Meanwhile, the platform’s net income hit $476 million, although this was still 14% lower than the figure from the same quarter last year, and it includes $0.07 per share, amounting to $67 million of unrealized losses that were mostly tied to Robinhood Venture Fund 1’s mark-to-market.

Another thing the report noted was that costs grew faster than revenue, with operating expenses going up by 16% to $739 million due to higher credit loss provisions. Furthermore, net interest revenue came down to $415 million, a slide of about 9% that Robinhood said was due to lower securities lending and short-term interest rates.

Customer Numbers Up Amid Overseas Expansion

Apart from the jump in net revenues, the company also reported a 7% increase in funded customers, which pushed them to 28.7 million. Abroad, it launched crypto trading in the UK and got authorization from the Dubai Financial Services Authority. The firm said it is planning a rollout in that region in 2027.

Its Robinhood Chain, launched in June, became a top-5 chain by revenue and volume in its first quarter after it generated more than $80 billion in DEX volume and more than $50 million in revenue.

On costs, management says it trimmed the top of its 2026 adjusted operating expenses and stock-based compensation outlook by $25 million, taking it to a range of $2.675 billion to $2.75 billion.
