Texas Bank Employee Allegedly Steals Over $50,000 From Customer Account

A Texas bank customer has lost more than $50,000 after a Laredo employee allegedly made repeated debit card charges on the account.

Laredo police say the former employee accessed the account without permission while working at a branch in the 1200 block of San Bernardo Avenue, reports KGNS.

Irma Yessenia Martinez, 25, is accused of the theft.

Police say a Rio Grande Valley customer disputed multiple debit card transactions after noticing the withdrawals.

Investigators say the activity stretched from September of 2025 into early 2026.

Authorities arrested Martinez on September 1st and charged her with misapplication of fiduciary or financial property valued between $30,000 and $150,000, a third-degree felony.

The bank is not named in the police account.
