Texas Firm Suffers Cybersecurity Breach As Names, Social Security Details, Phone Numbers, Full-Face Photos and Other Data Exposed

Hundreds of thousands of Americans are being warned after a Texas-based healthcare firm suffered a major cybersecurity incident.

In a new filing with the Office of the Maine Attorney General, Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital says 257,073 people are affected by a data breach that allowed an “unauthorized party” to access its computer network and information systems.

Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital is a government-owned general medical and surgical facility that offers inpatient and outpatient surgery, intensive care (ICU), emergency care, and imaging.

The hospital says an intruder accessed its systems and stole files containing personal or health information, including names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, medical record numbers, account numbers, health plan beneficiary numbers and possible full-face photograph images.

“On January 31, 2026, Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital became aware of a data security incident as a result of a cyber-attack in which an unauthorized party compromised Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital’s computer network and information systems. We immediately notified law enforcement, initiated our incident response plan, and commenced an investigation.

Upon resecuring our computer network environment from the unauthorized party, we hardened and enhanced our network security and have completed an investigation to determine the extent of unauthorized activity within Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital’s computer network.”

Nacogdoches urges its patients to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity or misuse of personal information to authorities. For now, the healthcare firm says it has not seen evidence that patient information has been misused.
