Central Banks Stockpile Gold Reserves for Fourth Straight Month as China and Poland Drive Demand

Global central banks keep adding to their gold reserves for a fourth straight month.
Institutions netted 23 tonnes in July after acquiring 51 tonnes the prior month, according to Kitco, using data from central banks, the World Gold Council and the IMF.
China purchased 20 tonnes to reach 60 tonnes for the year while Poland added 8 tonnes and lifted its 2026 total to 90 tonnes.
Year-to-date central bank acquisitions stand at 130 tonnes, down slightly from 160 tonnes over the same stretch last year.
World Gold Council data shows emerging market institutions have accelerated accumulation in recent quarters amid concerns over sanctions and currency stability.
Central banks cite geopolitical risks and the need to diversify reserves away from traditional assets as key drivers behind sustained buying.
